The Brijbag Family Foundation is thrilled to share an incredible milestone achieved through its Project Jubilee Debt Relief Initiative. In a heartfelt announcement, Brian and Stephanie Brijbag revealed that the Foundation, through its partnership with Undue Medical Debt, abolished $1,614,780.69 in medical debt for 1,956 residents of Hernando County in 2024 alone. This achievement brings the total impact of Project Jubilee to $3,217,564.71, relieving debt for 3,570 local residents since the program’s inception.

A Partnership for Change
This transformative accomplishment was made possible through the Foundation’s ongoing partnership with Undue Medical Debt, a national nonprofit dedicated to erasing medical debt for individuals in financial hardship. Together, they’ve created meaningful change for families burdened by medical debt in the Nature Coast region.
“Medical debt doesn’t just strain finances; it takes a toll on mental health, relationships, and access to vital care,” shared Brian S. Brijbag, Esq., President of the Brijbag Family Foundation. “Through Project Jubilee, we’re removing barriers for nearly 2,000 of our neighbors this year alone. And with over $3.2 million abolished since we started, we’re proving that focused community efforts can make an incredible difference.”
Restoring Hope and Dignity
For recipients, the process is simple. Eligible debts are identified through income and financial thresholds, purchased by the Foundation, and erased—no action is required by the individual. Recipients are notified by mail once their debt has been abolished, and any negative marks on credit reports associated with these debts are removed.
“We hope this relief allows families to move forward without the weight of debt holding them back,” said Stephanie Brijbag, co-founder of the Foundation. “It’s more than financial relief – it’s a chance to breathe again, to rebuild, and to focus on what matters most.”
Celebrating Community Impact
Project Jubilee is just one example of the Brijbag Family Foundation’s commitment to meeting critical community needs. Other initiatives, like the Rachel’s Room Project, provide sensory therapy equipment and training to schools, directly benefiting special-needs children in the area.
